Stretchbox

**Stretchbox** is a versatile hand rehabilitation device that uses a flexible rubber band to generate movement. Its innovative design allows for a variety of exercises without the need for complicated hand attachments, which is a key advantage in a hospital environment.

Key Features:

  • Versatile Exercises: The Stretchbox enables three key types of movements, engaging different parts of the hand and wrist:
    • Wrist movements.
    • Finger spreading (abduction).
    • Finger straightening and hand opening.
  • Safety and Simplicity: The patient simply places their hand on the rubber band. The absence of traditional straps and fasteners radically shortens the time needed to prepare for therapy. Furthermore, in the event of spasticity or exceeding a safe range of motion, the hand naturally slides along the band, protecting it from injury.
  • Intelligent Control: The device is controlled via a tablet application that allows the therapist to program and modify exercise sequences. By using "Behavior Trees," a physiotherapist can easily tailor the therapy to the individual needs of the patient (a low-code/no-code approach).
  • Confirmed Results: Pilot tests have shown that regular exercises with the Stretchbox lead to an improved range of motion in the wrist joint, increased regeneration of the upper limb, and greater patient independence and functional autonomy.

A patent application has been filed for the Stretchbox concept. It is a modern tool that combines ease of use with advanced options for therapy personalization.
